Getting through heroin detox little help from evolution
Just about anyone who has ever experienced Heroin detox will tell you how dehumanizing it can be. It seems like you are stripped of your soul and left with a carcass-like shell of a body. Every time we go through this type of anguish, at least for a moment, we tell ourselves that it will be the absolute last time that we will subject ourselves to it. But, the disease of addiction carries over to when we are recovered from withdrawals. This perpetual cycle can be changed with a little reprogramming of your pattern of thought. What I mean by this is prepare yourself mentally for the rigors or withdrawal you will have to face during your heroin detox.
What you want to do to avoid having to go through opiate withdrawal is correct the problem before it gets to that point in the first place. One of the most effective ways to go about getting over your addiction is to learn to negate your selfish desires in other areas of everyday life.
We as humans have unique mental characteristics that set us apart from impulse driven animals. Evolution has assisted in the development of what is now known as the pre-frontal lobes of the brain. This part of the brain is responsible for our ability to meditate, pray, and basically tap into the more spiritual aspect of our being. Training your brain to operate more in this area can make your need for opiates diminish, as well as build character in the end. Performing selfless acts of giving and generally doing for others will slowly help with your heroin detox and retrain your chemical mental process. Directing mental energy to the more evolved part of our brain will begin a process of reformation that will become stronger from day to day. When your will is determined, there is hope for all addiction problems!
