Using ground blinds is a strategy that many hunters use to gain an advantage over their prey. Ground blinds allow the hunter to stay in one spot and wait for animals to come near rather than wander around and possibly miss a good kill. There are three common types of blinds that hunters prefer when they adventure outdoors to do some hunting.
Hub Style
Hub style blinds are considered one of the more popular types of ground blinds. These blinds are generally rather large so finding a suitable spot to set them up can be tricky. However, once you have the set up out of the way, they are very good blinds. They have windows on all sides so your prey won’t be able to sneak off behind you. Also, since it is pretty big, you can fit more people inside. You can fit 4 people inside some of them rather comfortably, so you can have one person watching each side.
Pop Up Blinds
The pop up blind isn’t as popular as the hub blind, but is still quite common. Pop ups are smaller than hub blinds so finding a good place to set up is easier. However, that is where all advantages over hub blinds end. The set up itself is more complicated and it would be a bad day indeed if you scared all the animals away with your stream of curses while trying to set up your blind. The inside is also rather cramped so if you are a bigger guy it could be a little uncomfortable. It still has a window on each side, however, so you don’t have to worry about missing an animal moving around behind you.
Chair Blind
The chair blind is a blind with a built in chair inside and is the easiest of the three to set up. Sound convenient? Well, read on and you might change your mind. Chair blinds are even smaller than pop up blinds and do not allow any movement inside them. There is also only one window, so if your game is moving around behind you, unfortunately you’re out of luck.
All in all, the hub style blind is the most popular and for good reason. The other blinds just can’t compete with the visibility and spaciousness of hub style blinds. Until next time, happy hunting!
