This is why dental sales representative positions do not require that applicants actually be licensed dentists, dental technologists, or even dental hygienists.
The most important thing for a dental sales representative to have is experience in marketing and selling products, preferably in the health field. Most medical professional expect strict protocols for these kinds of representation, therefore experience in marketing medical products and supplies is preferred. More importantly, cultivating an ongoing professional relationship with new and existing medical professionals and similar clients will be highly prized by dental supply companies.
