It used to be that making long road trips to visit friends or family would be very laborious. Not to mention the fact that if you have kids, entertaining them would have been a very tough task. Now, through the improvement of technology, more and more vehicles are equipped with audio/video devices with a large amount of them being an overhead car DVD player.
The benefits of an overhead DVD player are numerous but here a couple things to think about. One, the player is installed in a location that is away from the passengers where the likelihood of it being damaged is somewhat remote. Second, typically the players are installed in a central location where the movie can be viewed by most passengers that are riding behind the front seat. Also, they can be wired into the car's audio system thus allowing for better sound quality. Third, the drop down screen that come with the players can be adjusted in order to provide maximum viewing angles.
Another added benefit is that most of these types of players, if requested, come installed by the manufacturer or dealer. Which means that it might be covered under some sort of warranty. If you have an aftermarket specialist install one, then be sure to inquire about replacement parts and service.
Many players also come equipped with expansion outputs that allow for headphones and other devices like mp3 players and video game systems to be plugged in that expands the functionality of the player to a true entertainment system. The only challenge may be if you have multiple children who don't want to watch the same thing.
Traveling to visit family doesn't have to be a dread any longer. With the invention of this type of car DVD player, entertaining the family is now a snap. Now the question is what movie to watch.
