To students of astrological compatibility, one of the most revealing clues of all is a factor known as house overlays. Basically, house overlays refer to the positions of an individual's birth chart planets in another person's chart.

The concept of synastry house overlays is tied to the zodiac signs and the astrological chart wheel. A planet in one person's chart is placed over that of another depending on where that planet is in the zodiac. Saturn: Whichever house Saturn is in, it is where you try hardest to control things and make sure they are all right.

Uranus: Whichever house Uranus is in, it is there you challenge your partner to change their old ways of thinking.

Neptune: Whichever house Neptune is in, it is there you are most idealistic, trusting and impractical.

Pluto: Whichever house Pluto is in, it is there you have the power to make sweeping changes in your partner's life.
