In the sofa bed world corner sofa beds are a relative newcomer to the market place. It used to be that just regular corner sofas were extremely expensive however their costs have now reduced significantly and therefore more people are buying them. Another limiting factor of older corner sofa was that they were either left or right handed so they were not very flexible in terms of where you could put them in your room. Most corner sofas are now modular so that you can make them left or right handed and this has also had an effect on there popularity. It seemed that it was only a matter of time before a sofa bed version of the regular corner sofa arrived on the market and they have proved to be very popular. Corner sofa beds have many advantages and here just three:
Most corner sofa beds will have a lot of storage space in them, where you can keep a full set of guest bedding and towels. In a regular 2 seater sofa bed there is simply not the space as it is taken up by the bed mechanism. With a corner sofa only one of the lengths of ‘L’ will be taken up by the mechanism, the other part – usually the shorter length – will be available for storage.
In some cases a corner sofa will not have a ‘mechanism’ at all and the bed will be simply constructed by swinging round the shorter part so that the sofa becomes rectangular shaped. No complicated mechanism means that there is far less to go wrong and potentially a corner sofa bed will last longer than a regular sofa bed.
The third advantage of corner sofa beds is not unique to corner sofas; they are a very efficient use of space. Having a piece of furniture that is multifunctional is a fantastic use of space. Not many of us are graced with having a large home with multiple bedrooms that guest can stay in, so being able to provide a comfortable bed without taking up additional space is a good thing.
There are many more advantages to corner sofa beds but these three are just a few of them. Like regular sofa’s, corner sofa’s come in all sorts of materials, sizes and styles so you are sure to find the perfect one to match your homes interior. I would highly recommend finding one that is modular though as they offer far greater flexibility.
