Whether it is a meaty spaghetti or creamy carbonara, we cannot deny the influence of Italians on our daily diet. They are precursors of the pasta and made different types to suit their own style and creativity as evidenced by the different shapes which are now being commercialized all over the world. You can rarely visit a country where pasta dishes are not a common recipe. The lasagna, a flat-surfaced pasta is rapidly becoming popular after the spaghetti. Meat lovers find satisfaction in inventing ways to incorporate this ingredient in the menu, hence, an easy beef lasagna recipe came in the picture.

An example of this meal is the meaty lasagna recipe. This is done by boiling the noodles in a pot until it becomes slightly chewy. The noodles are then drained and set aside. In a preheated pan, onions, garlic and tomatoes are sautÈed. These are then added with ? pound of ground meat, mushrooms and slices of German sausages. After these had turned slightly brown, seasonings such as pepper, salt, basil leaves and spinach are added. Tomato sauce is poured and left to simmer. The pasta and sauces are then placed in a separate container and layered on top of the other. The top is placed with parmesan and mozzarella cheese. This is then covered with a foil and placed inside an oven. After 20 minutes, the dish is ready to serve.

Pastas have been around since the 8th century when the Arabs invaded Italy. An exchange of products occurred and the Italians traded their goods for noodles. They later on made their own version and produced this product in great quantities. Later on, different shapes were developed. It was also at this time that this commodity was carried in ships and later on had spread to different countries. Years followed and tomatoes were developed and incorporated in a single dish, hence pasta dishes were made.

Pastas are rich in carbohydrates. These substances are good sources of glucose which supplies energy to the different parts of the body. Carbohydrates enable the organs to function optimally. It is also rich in Niacin (Vitamin B3) which is responsible for dilating the vessels of the circulatory system, preventing hypertension. It also stimulates the brain function. Pastas are cheap and can be bought anywhere. It has the benefit of being cooked in different ways hence, choices are varied when it comes to cooking.

High cholesterol foods to avoid include meat. It is important therefore to consume it in moderation to prevent the occurrence of diseases occurring from faulty diets.
