The original Animal Crossing game was originally developed for the Nintendo 64 and eventually ported to the Nintendo GameCube. In the game, players go about living a virtual life in a community inhabited by anthropomorphic woodland animals. Similar to The Sims, Animal Crossing can be classified as a life simulation game. Players would initially move into a virtual village and set up a life there.

Game play elements include socializing with the residents of the area and taking part in a number of activities that range from recreational to actual work. The game allows players to customize their homes as well as their in-game avatar by purchasing the numerous amount of items the game has available. Another unique feature in the Animal Crossing games is how the hardware clock is used to synchronize time in the game and time in the real world. This allows the game to celebrate holidays and react to seasons as we do in real life.

Having developed multiple installments of the game for different platforms namely the GameCube, DS, and the Wii, Nintendo has recently announced that a fourth title in the Animal Crossing series will be coming to the Nintendo 3DS. At the Electronic Entertainment Expo earlier this year, Nintendo presented a non-playable demo of the latest Animal Crossing game running on 3DS hardware.

In the demo, it was presented how well the stereoscopic effect integrated with the colorful and lively world of Animal Crossing. This awesome Nintendo 3ds game displayed vibrant colors and detailed textures that left many observers with the impression that this version of the game was graphically superior to even the latest outing of the series on the Nintendo Wii.

Running through the forest with the 3D effect on gives players the invigorating feeling that they are playing within a virtual 3D world all within a technologically sophisticated portable device. While roaming outdoors is a virtual treat, the indoor graphics of the game are just as impressive. The graphics engine allows the player to see detailed renderings of even the smallest of items. Displaying the stunning graphics with the 3D effect is just simply icing on an already visually stunning cake.

So far, Nintendo has not given a statement as to when they plan to release Animal Crossing for the Nintendo 3DS. What gamers can expect though will be an entirely new adventure complete with new items, characters and probably even activities. I

t is also possible that Nintendo could provide some sort of online functionality to promote a virtual online community for the game. More information on the game should surface leading up to the anticipated release of the Nintendo 3DS. Until then, Animal Crossing 3DS should be expected sometime after the Nintendo 3DS launches.
