In the United Kingdom, many lawyers have decided to specialize in providing services and not charging their clientele until they win the court case. If it just so happens that you hire one of these lawyers and they fail to win you money or some form of compensation, you are not required to pay them a single penny for their services. Believe it or not, there have been cases where these types of lawyers spend a lot of time on trying to win a case and things backfire. When they lose a case, they are not only out some money, but they are missing out on a lot of time that they invested towards it.

The way that the concept of no win no fee UK law firms operates is that they select customers that seem like they have a case that can actually win a fairly large sum of money. If they help the client win the case, then some of that cash will get divided up between the client and the lawyer. Since the lawyer does not charge money unless they win, they specifically set up terms of service (e.g. a contract) that their clients are required to sign before they begin any of the legal proceedings.

In a no win no fee claims contract, the lawyer usually has generally set up a specific percentage of winnings that he or she will get to claim in profits. The percentage is definitely subject to variation among lawyers, so it would be a good idea to compare multiple rates and customer service reviews before deciding on a legal team to work with. If you win a case in excess of $400,000 – but the lawyer that you worked with in the contract gets 75% of the money, then you are left with just one hundred thousand dollars. Make sure that you know the servicing contract agreement before doing any work with lawyers in the UK.
