Do you want to clean up credit? There are so many people out in the world today that are in the same predicament you are in. So many people overextend themselves and then find that they are in a hole that is nearly impossible to crawl out of. If you are looking to clean up your credit, don’t fret, there are many things you can do that are simple and easy and some of them don’t even require money. Let’s take a look.
The first step to fix your credit score is to know how bad it is and what exactly it is that needs to be fixed. Once you have a clear picture of what your credit looks like you are going to have to get paper out and write it down. Write down what you owe, to whom you owe it and the interest rate on each and every credit card, loan or line of credit.
It is very common that the cards that you have with the highest interest rate are those from department stores or retail stores. Those should be the first cards you stop using and start paying off. In order to clean up your credit you have to clean out your wallet. Cut up the cards you don’t need. Get them out of your wallet so you cannot even be tempted to use them.
Contact the customer service departments on cards that you have high balances on. If you have been a customer for a long time and you pay at least the minimum each month you should be able to work something out with them. No matter what they tell you, you have nothing to lose. The worst thing they can do for you is not to change anything. The last thing you can do is keep your old cards active. Do not charge a lot, but use it every once in a while. Old credit is good credit.
