Trying color contacts without a prescription can be fun and daring. Within 1-2 minutes you can change your eye color; from blue to green to gray to brown. There are a few things you should consider before contacts. Always consult your optometrist before making any final decisions.
Your optometrist will do a complete exam of your eyes, which might consist of measuring, x-rays and tests. This exam is very important, it helps the optometrist detect eye diseases, cataracts and premature eye problems that could lead to loss of vision. If you don't have a prescription you should consider trying colored contacts without prescriptions. The benefits are: they're inexpensive, stylish and changeable. Even with prescription glasses you can still wear color contacts. Just be aware that non prescription color contacts are only for your personal style, they will not correct or improve your current prescription.
A recent study in 2008 from CLIP (Contact Lenses in Pediatrics) that children under the age of 8 years old could wear, maintain and understand contacts safely. The Contact Lenses in Pediatrics still recommend that you consult your pediatric optometrist. They will be able to determine an appropriate age for starting contacts. Contacts come in a variety of colors, brands and styles.
You need to first decide what type of colored contacts you would like to wear. You have a choice of either day wear disposables and extended wear. Day wear disposable contacts are to be changed daily and taken out before you go to sleep. Extended Wear contacts can be worn all day and night; for one week before needing to be changed for a new pair. Unlike the extended wear contacts day wear are only good for 30 days. Colored contacts are not the only type of contacts available. With the new technology of today decorative contacts like; cats eyes, vampire contact lenses, glow in the dark, illusions and holiday themed contacts can be worn as well.
Give it a try, see what is your style!
