In just about every town in the U.S. you’ll see signs everywhere on where to sell gold. In most communities, there are a lot of “buy gold” stores where you can sell gold, it’s just a matter of knowing which one will give you the most money for your gold items. Depending on what you’re selling, one type of gold buying store might pay you more than another.
If you’re in a hurry and just need some fast cash, you can always visit your local pawn shop, which will more than likely be happy to buy your gold. However, chances are that you won’t get top dollar for your gold at most pawn shops.
If you have gold jewelry that you want to sell, a jewelry store that buys gold might be your best choice. If your jewelry item is in good shape, a jewelry store might be able to clean it up and resell it in their store at retail, so the item would be worth more to them than as simply gold scrap to be melted down.
If you have gold coins to sell, obviously a coin shop would in most cases offer you the most money for your coins. Your coins may or may not have any numismatic value on top of the value of the gold content, but a coin shop will be able to sell your gold coins at retail if they are in decent shape. (The retail value would be more than the melt down value.) If the coin is bent, or otherwise damage, you will probably only get the meltdown value of the gold content, but most gold coins are 99.99% pure gold.
Another way to sell gold locally is with a gold selling home party. Before you decide to play hostess to this sort of event, you’ll want to find a company who’s willing to sponsor you and send someone to appraise you and your friends’ gold items.
Once you’ve found a company, they will give you the details of what will happen at your party and what you’ll need to do. The best thing about becoming a hostess is you can make a profit of at least 10% from your friends’ sales. It’s just like having a Tupperware party, only better!
