When most people think of cornhole bean bags they think of the backyard bean bag toss game that has taken the Midwestern states by storm in recent years. However, there are an unlimited number of other uses for these corn-filled products, most of which people never think of. These functions range from being utilitarian to being nothing more than time-killers.
One idea would be to use corn toss bags as a tool for strengthening the hands, wrists, and forearms. Simply by squeezing them for hundreds of repetitions per day would go miles in improving the performance of many athletes whose success largely depends on hand strength. This would be similar to the rituals that Alex Rodriguez goes through to improve his batting skills. One of his daily routines is to stick his hands into jars of sand and squeeze over and over again. The principle would be the same with bags of corn, and I imagine the result would be much less messy. This sort of activity would probably also be hugely beneficial for senior citizens or anyone else who suffers from wrist and hand weakness.
Cornhole bean bags could also be used as a muscle relaxant. Simply warm them up in the oven and apply to any area of the body that is sore or tight. These could work great in conjunction with a professional massage session. The only caveat is that one would want to set the oven temperature at the lowest possible temperature, or else the result would be burned duck cloth and an oven full of popcorn!
These items can also be very useful when it comes to supporting or propping up home centerpieces and displays. For example, a vase containing artificial flowers sometimes looks sloppily done. By inserting bags of corn into the base of the vase the flowers could be straightened and the shape of the piece could be better controlled. The result would be a better-looking centerpiece.
These are just a few ideas for how to make the most out of a set of cornhole bean bags. Of course, one should never lose sight of the fact that the primary reason for them is to play games and have fun, but it also makes sense to get as much use out of them as possible when play-time is over. All things considered, a bean toss bag could possibly be the cheapest and most useful thing you could purchase for your home.
